In 2020 the minister for Regional Growth and Local Government, Luke Hall MP, stated that the Government is “completely opposed to local boycotts and … determined to ensure that local authorities do not pursue boycotts that could undermine UK foreign policy.” He added, “We will legislate to ban boycotts as soon as parliamentary time allows.”
It is anticipated that this legislation will be introduced to Parliament imminently and will be applied across the whole of the United Kingdom.
While such legislation will cover all local boycotts, one of the significant reasons that a change in the law is required is to stop the discriminatory and wholly illegitimate targeting of the world’s only Jewish State, Israel.
Every major party represented in the UK Parliament, and indeed most individual MPs, have stated publicly, and without caveat, that they do not support boycotts, divestments and sanctions of Israel.
As my constituency MP will you please confirm that you will support this legislation when it is brought to the House of Commons?
