DRAFT BDS CAMPAIGN LETTER & TIMETABLE

LETTER WOULD BE ADDRESSED TO MPs AND COPIED TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE AT THE DEPARTMENT FOR LEVELLING UP, HOUSING AND COMMUNITIES

Dear {insert MP’s name}

In 2020 the minister for Regional Growth and Local Government, Luke Hall MP, stated that the government completely opposed local boycotts that could undermine UK foreign policy.

He further stated that the government would legislate to ban local boycotts.

It is anticipated that this legislation will be introduced to Parliament imminently, and will be applied across the whole of the United Kingdom.

While such legislation will cover all local boycotts, one of the significant reasons that a change in the law is needed is to stop the racist and illegitimate targeting of the world’s only Jewish State, Israel.

Every major party represented in the UK Parliament, and indeed most individual MPs, have stated publicly, and without caveat, that they do not support boycotts, divestments and sanctions against Israel.

As my constituency MP will you please confirm that you will support this legislation when it is brought to the House of Commons?

Yours sincerely

TIMETABLE

I would suggest that we start the campaign on or around Monday 17 January and we could run it for around 4 weeks.

Yours thoughts on both the content of the letter and the timetable would be welcome.
